A consortium led by the University of California and Bechtel has won the bid to oversee the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
Kevin Lawlor, the press secretary for Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Calif, confirmed the bid and said that the congresswoman would be making a statement later today.
UC has managed to hold onto both the Livermore lab and the Los Alamos lab after a string of criticisms that sprung from mismanagement of both labs. The UC-Bechtel consortium also won a bid for the Los Alamos National Laboratory over a rival bid from Lockheed Martin-University of Texas in December 2005.
